BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, what the fuck is going on with American women?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Now on to the serious side:
Judge Lynn Toler is hot.
Now the really serious side:
According to various Internet forums, the kind of issues Rashida has with TP are very typical of ‘black’ American women. They think there’s something wrong with nice men so they look for excuses to get rid of them. They’re raised to expect lovers to mistreat them, exemplified by her reaction to when he says “I love you”. She puts up her arms to block a punch. Which doesn’t come. And she gets flustered!
And saying “I love you” twice a week is too often?!?
Why would that happen? What would make a grown woman revile genuine affection and prefer conflict sprinkled with affectionate words?
It’s possible she has experience of female acquiescence to abuse in her upbringing. Maybe her mother was raised to believe that women should submit to men no matter what? Maybe her dad beat the mother without backlash? That would be understandable. Whether this is true or not, I reckon there are two other factors that deserve serious attention:
- Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome. As an Afro-diasporan she’s a survivor of some pretty horrific stuff. That stuff has psychologically scarred the vast majority of us, especially those still living in the places of our torture. Like USA. One such scar is what I call suppression of the self-preservation instinct. This is when people confuse hate & love for each other, and actively seek/ cultivate haters instead of lovers. (see Dr Joy DeGruy’s Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome for more detail)
- Anglo Protestant misogyny. Not unique to English or Protestant Christian culture, but prevalent enough to deserve its own category. From birth girls are raised to shut up & put up with everything men do. Including marital rape. Contrary to modern media-inspired fantasies, marriage isn’t primarily about love but legitimacy. It was used just for sex & children; love was good if it happened but not necessary or actively promoted. (see Germaine Greer’s The Female Eunuch for further reading)
However, she could just not like TP anymore. If she were honest enough to just say that, everything would be all good. But stealing his car? Not letting him know about her stand-up comedy? Mocking his visual impairment in front of a judge? What the fuck?!?
Now I know there are 2 sides to every story (some say 3, others 4, others more). TP might not be as ideal as the video makes him seem. However, whatever problems she has with him sound pretty pathetic to most people. He loves her and wants to show it, and she doesn’t like it?
